Allenton, WI – The fall issue of Modernism Magazine features an article about streamlining. It references Brooks Stevens and his design of the Olympian Hiawatha.
Designed for the Milwaukee Road to be a sophisticated mode of transportation, the Hiawatha was streamlined and elegant, inside and out, coming and going. The stainless steel trimmed locomotive led the way but the “Skytop” observation car was the main attraction bringing up the rear.
