Milwaukee, WI & Beyond-Brooks Stevens, Inc is known to participate in numerous activities that extend beyond the “normal” workday and office environment. This spring has been no different. A team from BSI took a Saturday to guide college students from University of Wisconsin-Stout through an IDEAtion session to demonstrate our innovative and systematic approach. They were happy to learn the science behind our brainstorming process that has generated hundreds of product development concepts for numerous clients like Sauer-Danfoss, Harley Davidson and others.
Meanwhile, our Director of Industrial Design Douglas Carpiaux reviewed candidates from Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design for the annual IDSA Student Merit Award. Who could be better to judge ID students than Doug? After all, he was recently named a nominee for the IDSA-Midwest District Practitioner of the Year Award-Congratulations to Doug on his third nomination! Speaking of MIAD, our design team was able to get a sneak peek into their annual student show-keeping an eye on up and coming designers and the future of ID.
Of course, it is always fun to follow our Research Lead, Ryan Sohlden who once again finds himself on a global expedition for some of our valued clients. Global Research is often a key element of the product development process to understand how geography, climate and culture affect the end-user’s experience with a product’s design.
Most recently, Ryan traveled throughout India to perform usability testing with clinicians on a User-Interface of a medical device. Then it was back to the EU, to conduct discovery research for construction equipment.
Visit Brooks Stevens’ YouTube channel and watch some videos Ryan captured around the world. See if you can guess where in the world Ryan is researching!
